How Our Funding Works
AU Watch benefits from a wide range of philanthropic, research-related and membership support. This diversity of global support is critical to the independence of the organization
We receive generous donations and sponsorships from individuals, foundations, leading corporations, foreign government agencies that share our commitment on the work we do on the AU and AUMS and related issues. Our supporters value the quality, independence, and impact of our work. Our work would not be possible without the support of our donors – governments, foundations, corporations and individuals.
All contributions MUST CONFORM to AU Watch’s beliefs, policies and practice.
Our mission to help improve policy and decisions of the AU and AU Member States through research, analysis advocacy and practical assistance is truly exceptional among CSOs in Africa. Within a short space of time we have established ourselves as a resource for officials at the AU, Member States, government officials, business executives, journalists, educators and students, civic and religious leaders, and other interested citizens in order to help them better understand the world of the AU and its Member States and the economic, human rights and foreign policy choices facing them.
So, your gift therefore helps us to deliver fact-based, actionable solutions anchored in rigorous research and analysis. You can, for example, direct your assistance to our media, communication, advocacy and outreach programs to ensure that we reach millions of disadvantaged people to understand their rights and are able to claim them.

Supporting AU Watch TV and AU Watch Online Radio is a great way to demonstrate your belief in our vision and mission. Through use of the power of media and communication, we inform and empower people and communities to have the power to claim their basic human rights, to escape poverty, injustice and misrule.
AU Watch Chapters and affiliates have different guidelines by which they solicit and collect donations. Some Chapters do not accept donations from some governments, which allows those Chapters to maintain more independence. On the other hand, some Chapters and affiliates do accept contributions from their respective national governments. All AU Watch Chapters and affiliates have financial transparency, provide details and charts of income and expenditure, and receive high ratings from charity watch groups in their respective countries.
Nothing is too small
We appreciate gifts of any amount. Your gift to AU Watch helps us develop solutions to practical issues like human rights violations, gender issues, anti-corruption, youth unemployment, poverty, inequality and policy challenges of the region. In areas like security, health, education, and sustainable development, and good governance AU Watch is working to help make Africa safer, healthier and more prosperous.
